The World Boxing Organization (WBO) has ordered its newly crowned 154-pound titlist to next face three-division champ Terence ‘Bud’ Crawford. The ruling was applied per the conditional terms by the sanctioning body in its approval for Fundora to challenge previously unbeaten titlist Tim Tszyu.
Crawford easily accomplished that, and he made it look easy, too, as he dominated throughout to defeat a game but overmatched Benavidez by TKO at 2:42 of the 12th round to retain his WBO welterweight championship Saturday night at CHI Health Center in Omaha, Neb. Sporting News had the bout scored 109-100, Crawford, at the time of the stoppage.
Round 6: Whatever Crawford heard in the corner spurred him into action in the sixth round. Almost immediately after the bell rang to start the round, Crawford started throwing more punches in easily his highest output of the fight so far. Crawford caught Porter with a good straight left out of the southpaw stance. But Crawford suffered a cut over the left eye, a result of an accidental head butt.
