Three Wheeled Buggies
Three-wheeled buggies are ideal for walking around the neighborhood or for jogging. Their compact design allows them to be maneuvered easily, even in tight spaces.
For an easy ride, opt for a pram that has air-filled tyres. Look for models with 360deg front swivel wheels. They are susceptible, however, to punctures. Make sure you have a repair set.
Frame made of sturdy material
The latest figures have been released that show that the three-wheeled buggie – a symbol of the noughties of more money than sanity is on the verge of disappearing. Four-wheelers have replaced them, and are more flexible and simple to drive, while also looking fashionable.
The general idea is that the bigger the wheels, the easier it will be for your buggy to deal with bumpy and rough pavements. Having larger wheels both front and back also makes it much easier to manoeuvre and more stable when walking downhill or on difficult terrain.
MFM reviewer Kath tested this buggy with an infant and a 3-year-old child and found it extremely durable. It was able to withstand cobbles, grass, and rough pavements, as well as dirt tracks and kerbs. She said that it felt solid to push and extremely solid on rough terrain. Its tyres (which are inflatable and require occasionally pumping) have suspension built-in that was very comfortable for my children.
The size and shape of the seat is another aspect to think about. It should be large enough for your child’s comfort. You will also require it to recline for them to lie flat. Certain three-wheel buggies come with a lie-flat option that lets your child face you, while other buggies only allow a face-to-parent one.
A great option for those who want to tackle off-road and muddy trails is the Roma Atlas. This buggy is ideal for a single child starting from birth and can be modified to accommodate two children as your family grows. It is suitable for toddlers and infants from birth to age 4. It includes a bumper with a rain cover, an upgraded 5-point harness, and a large cushioned seat. The storage options are good as well, with a large basket, zip pockets in the hood and an easy-to-access pouch on the back of the seat unit.
Wheels with a larger diameter
Larger wheels mean your buggy will have more stability on rough terrain – ideal for buggies designed for off-road use. In addition, they help you maneuver the pushchair in tight spaces. Many three wheeled buggies have rotating front wheels that help you navigate around tight corners, whereas others are designed for running and have fixed front wheels that lock to improve the speed and stability at which they can be driven. This is especially useful when you hit a tree or a kerb. The front wheel will be lifted slightly to avoid hitting it.
A lot of 3 wheeler buggies wheeled pushchairs come with air-filled tyres that allow them to navigate a wide range of terrains. They are also more flexible than 4 wheelers. They are also lighter. However, they’re prone to punctures, so you’ll need to keep a repair kit, spare inner tube and pump in your bag.
Mountain Buggy Core, Venicci Carbo and Venicci Carbo Lux are some of our favourite 3 wheel buggy-wheelers. Both of these buggies come with larger wheels that, as per MFM reviewer Kath, “perform really well on gravel tracks, grass and market town cobbles” and can easily move up and down kerbs. The buggies also have suspension that according to Kath “smooths out bumps with great efficiency”.
Buggies with larger wheels can be quite large, and can be difficult to fit in tight spaces. This is a problem if you are using it as a jogger or you need to get through doorways that are narrow when traveling. Luckily, most models have compact folding options that allow you to remove the front wheels to make compact storage.
Easy to maneuver
One of the major advantages to a three-wheeled buggy is that it’s much more maneuverable, especially with a child on the way. The way in which they are built means that the front wheels turn at a quick pace and are incredibly easy to manoeuvre which makes them perfect for difficult terrains like cobbles, parks or bumpy pavements, as well as dirt tracks.
MFM reviewer Kath tried a 3 wheel jogger stroller-wheeler with her toddler. she wrote: “The Terrain is a pleasure to drive in rough terrain. The front swivel wheel was especially helpful.” I was also impressed with how well it dealt with the kerbs, particularly when using the brake operated by hand. I found it to be extremely stable when driving downhill or on uneven ground.”
The only drawback to this incredible maneuverability is that the three wheel buggy’s larger wheels sometimes mean that it will struggle in tight spaces – something to keep in mind especially if you live in a urban region. If this is an issue then a 4-wheeler might be a better choice for you.

Plus, there’s also a handy pouch on the back seat unit, and two smaller mesh pockets underneath the hood where you can keep your phone and keys.
