Titration
A highly experienced consultant psychiatrist will conduct a thorough assessment of your adhd titration private. This will include an examination of your medical history as well as an assessment using the common ADHD rating scales and questionnaires.

It is important that parents are involved in the titration process and be aware of their child’s behavior so that they can inform doctors whether the medication is working or causing adverse effects.
If you do not decide to return to NHS treatment and have decided to return to NHS care, your medication will be issued with a private prescription which you’ll have to pay for at the pharmacy (this is not included in your consultation fees). You must attend six-monthly appointments to check your medication. This includes blood pressure and pulse measurements. Annual reviews are also required.
Follow-up appointments
Once the evaluation has been completed, you will be able to schedule follow-up appointments with your psychiatrist, if necessary. Typically, the appointment will take place through a video call using zoom however in some instances it is possible to schedule an audio only consultation (again at an additional cost).
We will then discuss treatment options and choose the most appropriate, customized ADHD medication titration. This will include a review and discussion of your medication dosage and any side effects you may be experiencing. The cost for these titration appointments is PS150 for face to face sessions and PS60 for online or phone video consultations. The pharmacy will be charged for any cost of medication.
The psychiatrist will also inquire with you about your family history and the impact your ADHD symptoms have on your life, as well as any issues with relationships you may be having or other mental health problems that you might be experiencing. This is because ADHD can be an inheritable condition, and it is important to look into any family history that may suggest that you are at risk of developing the disorder.
It is important that you are honest and truthful to the doctor during this evaluation, as the information they receive will be used to determine whether your ADHD is in line with the diagnostic criteria. This is an important step, since the wrong diagnosis can lead to inappropriate medication prescription.
If you decide to be treated for ADHD we’ll schedule an appointment to follow-up with a psychiatrist that is skilled in this area. If you’d like to start treatment immediately you can start treatment at the time of diagnosis. You can also wait two weeks to consider the implications of the diagnosis and your options.
We suggest that if you are unsure of your preferences, you speak with your GP prior to booking your private appointment. Certain providers have different guidelines regarding whether or not they require the submission of a GP letter. We also advise to confirm that your GP accepts a “Shared-Care Agreement’, which means that once you are discharged from the clinic you will be returned to them for the medication prescription.
Medication
For many people who seek a private diagnosis of ADHD medication is a key aspect of their journey. It isn’t always easy to obtain an appointment with a psychiatrist on the NHS. NHS waiting lists are notoriously long and GPs are often reluctant to refer patients on to specialist services.
Inquiring your GP to refer through Right to Choose is one way to avoid this (see psychiatry – UK and ADHD 360). This means you can select a provider that offers a private assessment and titration. This will cut down your waiting time considerably and can be more convenient if you are working and have a hectic schedule.
After you have been referred, your clinician will examine your condition to determine if you need medication adjustment. You will be asked to fill out forms that are different for each provider, but the most important ones are self-report questionnaires as well as medical histories from childhood to adulthood. This can cost more than a prescription from the NHS because the pharmacy will charge for the medication.
