It’s a good-looking model that boasts useful features like an autofill water pitcher and a temperature-adjustable “FlexZone” drawer. It also performed well in our cooling test, but we’re not a fan of the gimmicky handles or plastic crisper bins.
One thing that sets the RF23M8090SG apart is the Bespoke line which lets you personalize your fridge using removable color panels that can be swapped out when you’re bored of the ones you have currently. There are 11 color options that range from soft pastels to more vibrant hues, and four metallic finishes. These panels can be personalized to include text or photos. This makes the fridge more personal and can be matched to your Rick Owens dress, Andy Warhol banana neon or tie-dye Crocs.
The LED lighting can be altered to a different hue, which is a great feature. The interior of the fridge has an intelligent finish that reduces smudges, and makes cleaning easier. The only real drawbacks of the RF23M8090SG are its crowded beverage center, and a little learning curve to open the door-indoor feature which houses a water dispenser and an ice maker. You must feel for an opening on the underside of the door midway across, and when you do you will be able to open an additional door inside the refrigerator that houses the docking station for pitchers along with the water dispenser as well as two shelves for drinks.
The 6.8 cubic foot freezer compartment is big enough to hold a large amount of frozen food. It also features an open drawer that lets you access the food you need without opening the entire compartment. There’s also a butter bin-style compartment inside the freezer that allows for simple storage of small items, and a large capacity drawer that can hold larger frozen items. The drawer can be locked with a password to keep unwanted guests out, and it includes a handy LED light to let you see what’s inside in an instant. The freezer’s also able to monitor energy consumption and help you reduce your energy bill by using the SmartThings that are smart and enabled with Energy mode.

It also has some annoying problems. Our tests show that the FGHB2866PF warms up quite a bit in the freezer, and it can be uncomfortable warm in the fridge’s innermost shelves. This is evident in our heat maps which show how much the interior temperatures fluctuate minute by minute. The butter bin in the orange section in the upper right corner is extremely warm during our testing period. This might not appear to be a problem initially however, the fridge is spending most of its time above 32 degrees.
It’s worth mentioning that this model isn’t Energy Star certified, which could be important for certain buyers. But the real problem here is that it’s not a top-quality fridge, and the absence of modern features and a sturdy construction make it difficult to recommend it over better models in this price range.
This Frigidaire refrigerator is identical to the stainless steel version that you might see at the local appliance store. It’s a safe option with a polished finish that looks nice and is resistant to smudges, but it doesn’t do much to distinguish itself from competitors that are more feature-rich and less expensive.
If you’re looking for a counter-depth French-door refrigerator but don’t want to spend much the FGHC2331PF could be worth a look. It has enough storage to meet the requirements of most families and does an excellent job at keeping food fresh. Even even if it’s not an energy efficient unit, it’s still considerably less expensive than our best-rated models.
