World of Warcraft Item Upgrades
Item upgrades are a way to boost the stats of an item. Depending on the type of upgrade you choose, it can boost an item’s Rarity or Mark Level, and also boost other stats.
Upgrading gear in The War Within requires a certain number of Flightstones and Crests Each item comes with an upgrade track. Each upgrade increases the cost of the following one by a set amount.
Item Level
The value of an item’s stats base increase when it is upgraded. This is the sum of all the leveled up benefits (attack magic attack, attack defense). The cost of upgrading items can be high dependent on the upgrader and what kind of upgrade you decide to perform. This is due to the number of perks that must be modified to upgrade an item.
It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, raids and scenarios. It is also used as a gating requirement while queueing for dungeons, scenarios, and raids, as well as to limit the amount of PvP gear that a player can wear (since PvP is limited to the lower levels). Players can see their average level of item on their character sheet.
Using the item level can help players evaluate the power of equipment when deciding to purchase or sell. It’s a sign of the item’s damage and quality. The level of the item can be used to compare items when evaluating a vendor’s inventory.
On your PC, you can see the level of the item by pressing ALT or by using the left stick on XB1 or PS4. This will show the item’s full description, including ilvl. You can also locate it by hovering over an item and typing in /itemlevel chat.
There are various theories about how the calculation of the item level upgrade‘s level is done. One theory suggests that the item level is determined by formulas that determine the worth of an item upgrading‘s stats actually are. It considers that different advantages are valued differently and that gems in sockets increase the value of the item. This can result in a calculated amount for the item level upgrade‘s level, which is typically close to Blizzard’s actual level of the item.
However, this is not the only factor that affects an item’s ilvl, since the size of the area the item is dropped into can change the value of its stats, such as by adding an additional level to its crit rating or haste rating. This means that items dropped at higher levels will have more value than items dropped in lower-level instances.
Item Stats
Stats on an item are a significant element in what makes or breaks an item for players. The game uses them in various ways to encourage players to not limit themselves to a single weapon and to motivate them to try out other weapons. The base stats of a weapon are enhanced by the weapon’s stat mods which are then boosted by the player’s level.
Item upgrades add to that by boosting certain stats on the item. The rarity of an item determines its cost of upgrading. For instance, a gray or white item can only be upgraded once, whereas an item with rare tiers will be upgraded several times, at higher costs.
Affixes are another way to change an item’s stats. They are stat boosts that can be added by the player to an item. The affixes are used to provide items with extra damage or special capabilities (such as reviving dead or reducing cooling downs) or to distinguish them by naming them.
All affixes are re-rolled at the moment by selecting them in the upgrade window pressing the green button. This process will cost the player a certain amount of gold and items, which can be added to the upgrade gauge in the same way as the other options for rerolling.
In addition to Rerolling affixes and rerolls, players can select which of the available stats to keep on an item after it is upgraded. The possible stat ranges for an item are based on the item level, but all items are guaranteed to have at least 1 stat within the range, unless it’s a unique item or the result of a God roll from a boss of a raid.
Another thing that could change is the possibility to upgrade equipment without having to reroll the affixes, or choose which stats to enhance. Like base equipment, it would have to be done per item, and the item comparison interface wouldn’t display all possible stats at once.
Item Luck
The Luck stat of a player can increase the probability of obtaining items and the properties that are generated by loot, and the strength of these properties. However, it doesn’t directly affect damage or the ability to upgrade items. It provides players with the chance to upgrade their equipment earlier in the game. This is particularly advantageous in early game runs because players tend to put weapon scaling and defenses above raw damage gains.
In addition to influencing the discovery of items, Luck also increases the chance of success when upgrading items with the Blacksmith. This should not be confused with the Blacksmith’s overall upgrade probability that increases with each level and can be further increased by using an anti-material such as a Scroll of Strength or a Jewel of Blessing.
Weapons, armor, and shields can be made or spawn by using the Luck property, which has a default value of 40. These items can be improved with golden ingots or spined leather (depending on the material they are made of) to increase the value of 40 luck or to boost the Luck of an item up to 140.
Certain items, such as the Hollow-infused weapon, can also be equipped to increase the damage dealt by any skill that deals damage by five percent. These items can be found in the shop or created with the right ingredients.
Item Failure
Upgrades to items are a costly process and not all upgrades will be successful. Cash shop items can be used to increase the chance of success of an upgrade, or to protect players from losing their item if it does not work.
When you upgrade an item, the success rate is displayed in the Honing UI. The percentage represents the chance of successfully upgrading the item, and can be increased by adding Additional Materials or Special Materials. There are limits to how much success rates can be increased and the chance of an upgrade failing can’t exceed 100%.
The Luck of an item can influence the effectiveness of an upgrade. All items have an initial success rate of 25%, and every item with Luck increases that chance by an additional five percent.
The upgrade overlays of the item upgrader kit are displayed above items in the inventory. This can block enchantment effects as well as other effects. If you wish to disable the upgrade overlays, the config option decoration.renderUpgradeOverlays can be set to False in the item upgrader mod Upgrader CORE client config.
