Why Nobody Cares About Audi G28

How to Replace an audi replacement keys G28 Engine Speed Sensor

Charles the Humble Technician teaches you how to replace the G28 Engine Speed Sensor. The sensor is located on the outside of the transmission, above the flywheel gear. It sends a signal to the ECU via a grey wire (T55/49) and then to the tachometer within the instrument cluster.

1. Engine Speed Sensor

The grey wire is located on the edge of transmission, above the flywheel ring. The sensor sends an electrical signal through the grey wire to pin T55/49. The ECU utilizes this information to regulate the amount of fuel and boost. It also sends an indication to the G5 Tachometer within the instrument cluster.

The sensor is used to connect the G40 Camshaft position Sensor. The ecu needs to know when the crankshaft has reached TDC, and where the camshaft lies to trigger the spark and injectors.

If this sensor fails the ECU will show a P00160 code which means the Crank Shaft and Intake Camshaft are out of sync and audi a4 key Replacement [king-wifi.Win] possibly indicating chain stretch or a jumped link on the upper chain of timing. However, the error code won’t appear on its own, without additional information from other sensors (G4 and G40).

It can be a bit difficult to test as there are various pins on the connector and each one has different functions. The best method for doing this is to measure the resistance between the ECU and replacement audi A4 key the sensor. It should read around 1000 ohms if the sensor is at full operation. If you are having problems with this component, look for signs of oil or coolant in the connector bay.

2. Injectors

Yesterday, when i was accelerating to the fullest speed from highway paytoll, i experienced a big cut in power as if the engine was running out of gas or the injectors aren’t firing any more. I took out the spark plugs this morning and found that 3 were drenched in gasoline and the fourth was dry. When i crank the engine without sparks, I put a piece of tissue on the top of each hole in the injector and the 3 drenched with gazoline pop out, but the 4th one stays closed. I tested the ground connection of ECU pins 14,30, and 48/55. I found zero ohm. So i assume the problem is elsewhere.

I also tried to reset the PID but with no luck. The car will start when the G28 is disconnected, but it works fine when the G28 connected. However, the intermittent misfire problem still occurs at higher RPM. The coolant sensor (G62), even when unplugged, still shows temperatures of -49c. I also noticed that the oil gauge in the cockpit shows 2 bar but the actual pressure is 0.

I’m not sure what to do, but i think i’ve pretty much eliminated everything else. However, Replacement audi a3 key i’m afraid that I may have missed something. Let me know should you have any suggestions! TIA!

3. Fuel Pump

The fuel pump in the g28 can be activated by a signal from the RPM sensor. The GM-style sender is the same as the G4 and they both work in the 80, 100 200, UrS and RS2 cars so you can easily find one at a wrecking yard or from a parts store. It is easy to test them – simply put your DMM into resistance mode and test the distance between pins 1 and 2 (with the bump on the connector’s edge facing up). They must be infinite ohms.

4. ECU

The ECU in our 20vt turbo (3B AAN ABY) engines must know the speed and position of the crankshaft to make decisions regarding timing of fuel injectors, etc. It makes use of a Crank Position Sensor G4 and an Engine Speed Sensor G28 to accomplish this. If either of these go badly, you will see codes on the diagnostic scanner which can cause the engine to shut down.

Some of the symptoms of a failing G28 sensor include an inaccurate rev counter in the gearbox the gears are shifting faster than normal and/or misfiring when in gear. If you are experiencing any of these issues, it is likely your sensor is going bad and needs replacing. The good thing is that they are very affordable and readily available, especially when you’re looking at an Bosch model, which is what we have. If you prefer, GM’s version of this part is an excellent choice.

5. Tachometer

A faulty engine speed sensor could be a cause for many issues in your vehicle. It is an important part of the transmission of your audi tt Key fob not Working since it sends information to the ECU regarding how fast or slow the engine of the car is spinning. If the sensor fails, it can cause problems for the transmission, as well as the other car’s components.

The G5 engine speed sensor is located on the edge of the transmission, above the flywheel ring gear. It sends a signal to the ECU at pin T55/49, via an uncolored wire. The ECU uses this signal to regulate the amount of fuel and boost, and also to timigrate. It also relays it to the G5 Tachometer located in the instrument cluster. You can check the sensor for failure by examining the continuity between it and the tachometer, between the ECU pin T55/49 and the instrument cluster connection on pin T6a/1 (trace [79trace [79]) and between pin T6a/1 and the instrument cluster pin T26a/12. You should observe approximately 1000 ohms resistance between those points. This is a standard component across the audi car key holder 80 100 200, UrS and RS2 range from 1985 MC to the 1997 UrS AAN and 1995 RS2 ADU, so the best ones could be available in wrecking yards.
